It has been about 4 months since dad died, how time flies and how busy life has been. He is nontheless missed. I've also been thinking about much of the family that were unable to be at the funeral so I thought I would include a few photos of the graveside service for them.
It was a beautiful, quiet affair that took place on the farm under the old pear tree. Seth drove dad's old van (the one he got from Niel and Heather in Perth!) over the paddocks with the coffin, just as dad would have wanted. And Rory organised a collection of dads favourite pieces of music. I was somewhat shocked when the bearers carried the coffin to the merry strains of 'Do ye Ken John Peel.' Thats what dad wanted apparently though i'd never heard the music till then! Another of the pieces was from the CD my Auntie Heather gave me when I lived in Bunbury, the Irish Christian group whose name escapes me but whose music was much loved by dad and I.
Our Bishop presided the proceedings (seen in the photo standing next to Rory by the mic.) and once the coffin had been lowered people were invited to come up and scatter some huon pine shavings over the coffin. The last picture is little Angus Jnr being offered the shavings by our beloved neighbour, friend and the funeral director Brother Dave Thomasson.
After this we went to the chapel for a beautiful service and then back to Katie's and Rory's place for an afternoon tea put on by all the lovely church ladies.
It was a special day to commemorate the life of a much loved man.
